For kids things always exaggerate.
Most simple things in life amaze
us. Stumped by butterflies fluttering,
birds chirping, and all kinds
of lights, and so on. But not
only good and harmless also
many simple situations can terrify
us as kids. Irrational streaks
like the classic tale of the
monster under the bed. How could
a monster live under a child's
bed? It's impossible! But when
being kids is what it is all
about, everything has another
dimension. We are afraid of
the dark, of monsters; the Boogeyman...
even masks of famous TV villains
can scare kids. However, there's
nothing more terrifying than
moving to another city. When
this so happens, the child has
to take a very difficult step
towards finding new friends.
All right, it's not something
that affects only children.
The truth is, making new friends
can terrify anyone, young and
old. Sure, making friends for
some is easier than for others.
But even for those still a degree
of effort to be made. After
all, everybody needs friends.
So, is there a crash formula,
a special fad that easily makes
friends? So far...unheard off.
In order to do so, you have
to put self-effort to get results,
and they will depend only on
your willingness. This is particularly
difficult for the shy ones that
get apprehensive approaching
strangers - a fear has to be
surpassed, otherwise, there
will you end up lonely in some
colorful box.
As hinted beforehand, there
is no magic formula per se for
new friends effortlessly. But
though tips for your behavior,
can help a little. Just don't
get overexcited for such are
just cues which anyhow might
render the whole process easier.
I'm talking about attendance
of parties and sport events.
Remain open to new cultures,
ideas and values. Invite someone
to join you for lunch. Don't
be afraid to speak up - if you
don't use it you loose it. Reach
out when in need of help, be
friendly and congenial, get
people interested in you, your
tastes and your opinions, pay
attention when they talk...
don't try to land on your feet
by spotting people's needs,
all those little features can
make your more sociable and
popular. But don't fool yourself:
only you really try to strike
luck in new friendship there
will achieve your goal. Friends
are not strangers chosen by
shear luck. They are people
in most difficult stakes of
our lives, who lend us a hand
of fidelity. So, it deserves
a little effort from yourself.
