Nowadays, adolescents discover their first loving and sexual experiences with many partners. Kissing more than one person in a party, for example, is a common behavior of young people. When they fall in love, however, they begin to desire the same person and start to think if the true love really exists. Many of their first relationships probably won’t last, and it’s normal as experience. Being and staying in love takes continual work and patience, and it isn’t a fairy tale like those that children learn in childhood.

With the ever-rising divorce rate, in a culture in which people who are “in love” marry in an impulse, the question about what is the true love is complicated. There are couples that are together for more than 50 years and still feel passionately in love and there are others that end in less than one year. The long-lasting relationships exist and work because the individuals respect each other and do things together, what can be considered a sign of true love.

People also need to bear in mind that true love is just a matter of finding the right person. The reasons why some relationships don't last are varied, as there are different kinds of people in the world. Many times, people follow different ways and change their beliefs, and a relationship can become past due to different points of view. Love also can vary by degrees. A couple can, for example, feel deeply intense and passionate, while others can admire the partner for some special characteristics, as creativity, dedication, intelligence and others.

The love may not be eternal for everyone, but it can be true during special moments. Some couples follow the phrase “"better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all". There are many existing types of love, and it’s possible to see the true love in many daily attitudes of people, such as parents protecting their children together, people dedicating time to help others in their community, and so on.
